OR

64 East till it dies and joins with Virginia Beach Blvd/Airline Blvd (58), and Military Highway (13/460)... and just follow 460 till i get to 81

Personally, I think I'd just take 81.

The last time I went to VA Beach, we drove down 460, but we drove back on 81. I'd take 81, personally. If you take 460, there are a lot of stretches where you damn well better hope you don't have any problems with your car, need to find a bathroom, etc... because a lot of it is "the middle of nowhere"

I think 460 would be a tad quicker, but again.... I would hate the thought of being out in the middle of nowhere, alone, with no sign of civilization really, no cell phone service, etc. I'd rather drive an extra half hour or maybe even more, than deal with that...

IMO I would go 64 W to Charlottesville, 29 S to Lynchburg and then 460 W to Roanoke and then take 581N to 81 S
to Salem!

64 W to 81 S takes forever and taking 460 W across the state is long b/c of all the towns you go through! Check your map and tell me what you think. Trust me it quicker!

Also drive at night or early morning so there is less traffic.

Ya.. well im working on my ASEs... so if something breaks... i just need an autoparts store to supply the part... i just replaced my starter solenoid and battery cable cause the OEM one was so corroded on the starter end... hah that was fun... im thinkin 64 - 81 on the way up... and 460 back...

my car has 143K miles on it... so if she makes it up there okai i'll risk 460 back...
