Re: VCU
i live on patterson, coming from the west end i call it downtown, my girlfriend who has lived there for 6 years say its not downtown, but i really like the area, pavement sucks in the city, not really much crime around the vcu area i don't think, traffic really isn't that bad in the city, cops are really laid back compared to surrounding counties... depending on how far you are from vcu you might want to get a bicycle if you don't have one to ride to class instead of looking for parking, that can suck at times

Re: VCU
only crime i really know of near VCU is some girl got kidnapped from the school and theres alot of vandalism from drunk students.
its really not bad though we walk around the streets at like 4am and theres cops always driving around... lots of homeless people, pretty much what you would expect from a bigger city.

Re: VCU
im in my 3rd year here and if like a city kind of environment its fun. as for crime, well theres a fair amount of it. i personally havent had any problems but then again im smart enough not to walk around alone especially at night. its also a very diverse school which it a good thing since you dont see everyone looking identical (like say jmu). anyway if you have any other questions feel free to PM me and i'll give you some more info

finding something in the fan would be a better thing to do. it might not be as nice as the areas over by carytown, but you would be close to campus and could easily walk. the place im in now is about 100 feet from campus so it lets me sleep as long as possible
