definitely. having that guy to do tranny work is like hiring a mime as a public speaker. both possible causes are rather easy to fix and require very little time to fix with the right tools. could be easily done in an afternoon.

It's an AAMCO shop on battlefield blvd. behind a Mcdonalds across from Chesapeake General Hospital.
A friend of mine worked there a year or two ago that did amazing work, he pretty much put in my 4.10 gears while I watched and did literally a perfect job.
Seems like they're fallen off a bit now though.....

You need to make sure that the valve body you install has the Sonnax kit installed, or have your valve body reamed to accept the new kit.
I do half a dozen of these units a month for this problem, as long as it has not been driven too long and the friction materials are still in decent shape, doing the valve body repair is a solid fix.
Its not the easiest thing to do in a trans, but its not too hard. Just make sure you install it correctly. I would likely advise you to have someone who has done a few install it, or at the least help you to make sure its done correctly.

aamco...thats all you had to say...
those clowns diagnosed a mazda 626 ...said it needed a tranny rebuilt for like 3000 bucks...
the customer brought it to me and the shifter wasnt even connected to the tranny...
you literally felt nothing by working the shifter through its range...i charged the customer 50 bucks to fix it ...she was the happiest person going...
i wouldnt let them clowns wash my car

How much do you typically charge to fix this issue?

usually the 2-3 valve sticks in the bore, but there are many issues that get fixed by this kit.
