i was told on these cars you dont need to do that, that they dont suck up to much oil or what ever

oil pump needs to line up whether you have shafts or not. TECHNICALLY it doesn't, but if you don't you can't be 100% sure it's all lined up right

so i just got done collapsing the exuast lifters and by the way i did it with out taking the timing belt off and without messing up the timing pretty good idea thanks for that

okay update, got compression but not all the way, (im sure theres something just barley pinning the valves open like debris or something)
anywayi did the tensioning of the lifters thing wich helped, but when i try to start it it will just about kick on then everything will stop momentarliy and then go again everything shuts down the lights and all for a split second then kick back on again,
im pretty sure the starter is bad but never had one go out on me so dont really know what to look for, but theres fire in the combustion chamber and things are looking decent finaly any help anyone

compression will still be low until all the lifters get pumped back up. they will make alot of noise so be prepared for that. and make sure the battery has a good charge. starting fluid may help get it started.
