I rebuilt the 4R100 in my truck when it wouldn't shift into 3rd. I was puzzled as I was putting it back togethter afer rebuilding it with a full mud bog kit because everything replaced was in good condition. After some investigation I noticed the 2 to 3 gear shiflt valve was stuck open in the valve body. 2 new seals and de-burr the cylinder were that were need, could have been done with the trans in the truck. Sometimes it is the simple stuff... I reccomend taking a close look at the valve bodies for the original problem after you fix the pump.

I even took another valve body off a working 4l60e and put it on the truck and still had the same issue of no 3rd. Even put another 3-4 housing in and still didnt change anything.


I couldnt figure out what I was doing wrong .
