sure it was a 96? ive had a car before where the title's year and the car's year based on the VIN were off by a year from each other

Take a picture of the front of your head. If you look right above your header the are 4 small circle and in each circle there are numbers stamps. That should tell you the year of the head.

yea, i saw that on another thread but havent checked yet.
i'm going to attempt the fit valve bypass saturday when its actually going to be warm and sunny.
i checked the front of the head, and its stamped 93...so it's definitely this one

First off, first gen swaps come with a cable transmissions. Yours is a hydro one so it is a second gen motor. More then likely it is a jdm swap because of having no number behind the A on the block. He would had to buy a bunch of stuff to get a first gen to work properly in your car, Such as (tranny, dizzy, injectors).
The p28 is not the correct ecu for that motor though. It may be chipped and have some kind of basemap on it. Does it rev to 8200? A stock p28 rev limit is 7200 i beleive. Something you may want to look into.
