A p28 is an ecu for a single cam motor. Is it a chipped p28? If you can get a P30 it will be a better bet. I believe the one out of a car is a P2T.

its most likely not chipped. i had the same problem with one of my old motors. i would recommend you get a computer for that motor and then get someone to chip it and give it a good base map if not get the computer you have now chipped. btw just got mine back from a freind who did a kick ass job on at a great price. if interested let me know.

A OBD1 P28 ecu will work just fine as it is the most commonly used ecu for swaps. You do not necessarily "need" to chip it if the motor is stock or even with the basic i/h/e. You need to verify the wiring is correct. With a DMM set to continuity insure you have a good connection from the vtec solenoid to pin A4 and Pressure switch to D6 of the ecu harness. I would highly recommend going over all other pins as well, it seems the previous owner did not do a very good job of wiring.

The one for the motor is a p2t.

Yes correct, but just because the OP has a 2000 civic si motor doesn't necessarily mean he has to use the original ecu. The P2T is obd2 and will look for the immobilizer function, secondary O2 sensor and others. Since the OP has a 95 civic chassis, it is not equipped with those functions and will throw a CEL.

Just because it's the most commonly used ECU for swaps doesn't mean it has the correct maps in it. It's not mapped for a B16, and there isn't any way to argue that.. It may run passably, but I don't want my engines to run passably, I want them to run properly. D16 maps are not the same as B16 maps. It doesn't really matter what tons of people in the Honda world do; there are tons of people in the Honda world who are complete idiots and who try REALLY HARD to never do things the right way.

Get the ECU chipped with a P30 program (with the knock sensor disabled) at the bare minimum.
