well yes a gallon is 4 quarts, you should be fine with that...
when the motor is cold remove the radiator cap and start it and see if water shoots up to the hood...
if it does you have head gasket problems again

if the exhaust gas is getting into the cooling system it will bubble. But you cant always tell with the naked eye. the best bet is to do a block test and a compression test. and ALWAYS check heads for warpage. Even at minimal with a straightedge and a feeler gauge

well i was going on the fact that he probably has no tools but the required flathead screwdriver and a 10mm wrench...
so doing the radiator test may show it..not all times...
but im willing to bet money it has warped head...since he stated he brought the car tht way,you know it was overheated over and over again...
then with a brand new gasket it may not have showed up immediately, now a few weeks later its back..

Re: Car shaking, white smoke from tailpipe.
comp test you need a compression guage..you take out a spark plug and screw the guage in and crank the engine over...
the compression on one cylinder should be between 120-200...depending on quality of motor
do all 4 of them...they all should be within 10 or so...now if one is low...then you either have a head problem or burnt valve or an issue with either..

Guess it's time to go to the local area and see if anyone can help me diagnose and fix this problem. Notice you got a shop, nftuatn, that's nearby. Any chance your shop does tows, and how much would it be to fix a cracked or warped head? Just to note I'm broke making 8 bucks an hour, 10 hours a week, so work ain't guaranteed, but depending on the estimate I might see if I ca get it in.

Call around to some machine shops or legit shops (theres alot down by you) then remove the head yourself (will save you some $$) and then bring it to the shop to check out. I'll save you $$ to do at least that cause labor to remove a head could cost you quite a bit.

well i can tow it to my shop and do the compression test and all and see what is wrong with it first...
then depending on what i find then i can give you a price on fixing it...
its hard to even guess a price until i know what its doing...
