Crank bolt from hell!!
OK...
2000 nissan maxima
Harmonic Balancer bushing shot and pulleys collapsed. Can't get the crank bolt out for anything.
Tried:
Breaker bar/chain
Propane torch to heat the bolt
255 ft/lb impact
Any ideas????

Re: Crank bolt from hell!!
Tried that too....straight lifted the car from the jack!! This bitch won't budge!!!
We were even going to try to just weld the two pulleys together in place, but there really isnt any way to do that.
Ggrrrrrrrrr

Re: Crank bolt from hell!!
bottom line is that you need more torque. If you can't lift the car higher (on a lift) to get a longer breaker bar in there try a 700-1000ft/lb impact. I know most recommend not using impacts on crank bolts, but do you want it off or not?

Re: Crank bolt from hell!!
Didn't get hot enough to hurt the seal, but it can be replaced if need be.
Doesn't seem to be a removable cover to get to the flywheel ring gear.....so can't put a prybar in it.
