EVO 9 mr clutch slipping...help
bought this evo 9 a about 2 months ago, the clutch was already a little messed up then, i knew i would have to do something about it soon, but i didnt, now the clutch is completely slipping whenever i go in boost, i have an exedy hd twin disk clutch, ive looked at rebuild kits for 450, or a complete rebuild kit for 650, what im wondering is if these exedy rebuild kits will completely fix the clutch, or should i invest in a whole new clutch? evo is putting 510 hp, so the clutch does need to be strong, and also how much do you think the labor will cost? thanks

well sounds like you bought a car you know nothing about and cant afford (happens alot). I think you should get a new clutch, and try and sell the car. I hope this isnt the one that was for sale for $30k...

Re: EVO 9 mr clutch slipping...help
So you have a twin disc clutch, and you're only making 510HP, and it's slipping. That thing must be completely thrashed.
Whether a rebuild kit will work on not depends on what the rebuild kit contains. So tell us what is in the rebuild kit.
The labor should be pretty much the same as any clutch replacement in that car, maybe more or maybe less depending on what the rebuild entails.
Are you going to make another thread about where to get the clutch installed, and then another thread saying that it works fine after replacement?

Re: EVO 9 mr clutch slipping...help
exedy is a weak twin for the evo. Not surprised that it's slipping already. Need a real clutch like a quartermaster. Problem with high whp manual trans cars... the clutches that hold the power wear down fast. If you daily drive the car expect to change clutch discs every 5-10,000 miles depending how much you beat on it.
labor will generally be $400-800 with the cheap side being some clueless moron claiming to be an expert who's doing it (and probably doing it wrong) for cheap because he's desperate for some weed money, while the more expensive side is a dealer price.

Nature of daily driving a puck. Generally have thin material on em, to make them disengage cleaner, and you gotta slip the shit out of em to make a torqueless 4 cyl pull away from a light smoothly, so they wear fast on a daily driver.
