Finally turboed my KLZE mx3 but im getting no boost in 1st gear??!
I just finished turboing my KLZE mx3. I have a smaller t3(like a 40sumthing trim from a saab) i know its to small for the ZE. but anyway. IM getting NO boost in first gear....but th eother gears seem to work fine...and the boost seems to be better with each gear. I had to tie shut the internal WG cause it was stuck open even with the actuator arm on it. I got to 8psi before i slowed down.
IM just wondering is it normal to have no boost in first gear? Im new to actually having a Turboed car.

Sounds like you have the vac lines hooked up wrong..?
The actuator shouldn't be opening the wastegate under no boost, so it sounds like something is wrong.

No it was not opening the waste gate..it has play in it (not adjest right with the screw..the screw is locked/rusted i cant turn it) so even with the actuater closed the WG had play. If that makes sense. Sorry should of explained it better.

Sounds like possibly your exhaust is restrictive. Maybe you need to open it up a little bit. Also, a turbo will spool better when their is a load on the engine, which is why it spools faster in 2nd than in 1st. Do you have a stock exhaust? Stock cat?

Fix the wastegate, then start troubleshooting. It's pointless to dick around with anything else while the wastegate is not working.

oh well then rule out the exhaust being a possibility then...
You said your wastegate is slightly open? You need to fix that so it is not letting any exhaust blow by. Because there is less load on the engine in first gear, it is not building up enough pressure fast enough so it goes right out the small leak in your wastegate...

well the wastegate is shut all the way..i tied it closed. it may not be fixed but it is shut so i can troubleshoot.
Its a Mazda Mx3 (2doorhatch) with a KLZE 2.5 litre v6 swaped from a jspec Mx6. then add boost. Thanx for your advice guys.
