Question in general, what is the best way to....

in general what is the best way to maximize an NA(naturally aspirated) car? what internal parts of the engine can increase horsepower? i dont want to have forced induction. so can anyone give me a list? i would really appreciate it. thanks

Balance, bluepring and bore out your block. Agressive cams(CTR or ITR or Toda or Sknk2) with the proper valve spriongs and retainers. ITR pisting wrist pins and rings. Proper fuel delivery with an fpr, maybe a fuel pump and high flow fuel rail. Hondata and lots of dyno tuning. Also, a VAFC should help. Good luck!

More air
More compression
big exhaust
and a shot of N20

Try a cold air induction, big throttle body, Intake, Heads(big valves, port+polish, milled for more compression), Upgrade your cam, headers, exhaust. Once this is done you will need some more fuel.

He said no force induction so N20 would be out of the question. Bump your compression to 12:1 and run open header.

you should be shot for encouraging the owner of a 4 banger to run open header.

start off with the usual bolt-ons, cold air intake, a good header and maybe a test-pipe to replace your cat, upgrade your ignition system, advance your timing etc.
then move on to small advanced upgrades like a hotter cam (springs, rockers etc), get a valve job and full top end port/polish, move on to a performance intake manifold and bigger throttle body, maybe even individual throttle bodies.
then move on to bottom end shit. bore out the block, higher compression pistons matched to your block, oil pump, knife-edged, polished, and balanced crankshaft etc.

it depends on how functional you want your car to be. if youre starting off with a 4 banger and want to go all-motor and get really good times, it is a good idea to disconnect all accessories from your motor, consider installing a manual rack and do some weight reduction. if you are really serious about it, some good chunks of time can be shaved off by having your suspension tuned perfectly for launches. also keep in mind that if you want a really high compression ratio, youre going to have to run race gas and if you want a race cam, say goodbye to your idle. there are a lot of factors involved.

good luck!

im not an expert on na performance but heres my guess:
-nice velocity stacks
-good header and exhaust with good scavanging (you need some back pressure)
-bump up the compression
-good head work read this
-balance and bluebrint with the most rediculously lightweight internals that you can find
-ems

compression, headwork, lightweight strong internals, and a good sense of what you want the car to do.........

You wanna make hp? Here's how to do it.....Add more air, then add more fuel, bump the compression and voila! hp...

So you think you would get worse times with open header as opposed to have a cat-back exhaust on? Why do guys take off their exhausts at the track? Plus, he never asked about external mods and you write up a paragraph about I/H/E. You're just regurgitating words you read in Stupid Street. Who should be shot now?
