Try resetting your mechanical timing, and remember to route so that you leave all the slack on the tensioner pulley.
yea, I was thinkin my intake cam gear is off, you say it could be too advanced? could it be retarded also?

It could be retarded also but it would have to be set back pretty far.........i would start by just putting the cams at TDOC of # 1 then put you crank at TDOC of #1.....it shoud have like a little mark on the crank pulley and that will line up with an arrow on the block, it is prob ont he right hand side of the pulley like upper left area, then just run you timing belt, tensionser side LAST and you should be able to fire it right up if evrything else is ok. Time it with a light after to set our ignition timing.

but make sure that you put the cams at TDOC first so that the top of the piston does not hit the valves.

i checked inside the dist. when everything was set at TDC. The metal thing on the rotor is pointing towards the upper left spark plug, which I believe goes to cylinder #3. Should it be pointing to the lower left, #1?

maybe he has the timine reversed 180 degrees so he gets air out of hit exhasut pipe and the burn exhaust shoots through throttle.
just my 2 cents... LOL

if the timing was reversed 180 degrees on the distributor, and I would turn the rotor another 180 degrees, it still wouldnt point to #1, now it would be pointing to #2...
