Help overheating and now running rough and no cel
My car lately has been eating coolant like crazy not sure why. Ok so at time it will heat up and go back down and keep doing that today on the way to school it shot to the line right before being on red and this is with the heat on blast cruising at about 70 when I got off the highway it went to about 3/4 the way up for a little while and then shot back up.
I replaced the thermostat a week or two ago because it was doing this and it still is
oil isn't milky and no white smoke so I'm assuming head gasket isn't blown
don't see any leaks from anywhere
So I'm not sure what the problem could be but I filled it up yesterday and had to put more in it today and the weird thing is it's not taking any coolant from te reserve either so idk any help is welcomed and thanks ahead of time
New Problem DAMN!!!!!!!
ok well i tried to bleed the radiator and thought that fixed but it didnt, and then i noticed that the car started running really rough, and it would be bogging a lot, i replaced spark plugs mainly cuz i do it about this time every year, and that didnt do much, so i was gonna check the codes and i noticed that the check engine light doesnt come on at all not even right before i start the car, i checked the bulb it was good, and switched it out just in case and still nothing.

Re: Help overheating
thoughtthat that might be a issue but how exactly do you bleed the line. That part I don't know how to doBand would that cause the coolant to be used up so quickly

Re: Help overheating
Your username threw me off a bit.
There should be a bleed valve where the top hose connects to the head. Do this when motor is cold.
-start car
-open rad cap
-open bleed valve
-wait until fans kick in (normal operating temp)
-pour coolant in radiator
-watch bleed valve for bubbles
-keep pouring coolant and steady stream is coming out of valve, then tighten
-top off radiator and put cap back on.

Re: Help overheating
Thanks I'm gonna try that, and I thought about the sender to nt working properly but the thing that isn't really pointing me in that direction is the fact that the coolant IS getting used up pretty. Correct me if I'm wrong cuz I'm not 100% sure about this but if the sender wasn't working write wouldn't it still be using the proper amount of coolant it would just be my gauge that was wrong
