Hesitation while maintaining highway speeds

Hesitation while maintaining highway speeds
I just bought a 92 civic vx hatch, its completely stock, 92,000 miles. I didnt notice it when i test drove it, but once i was bringing it home, i noticed on the highway that when im trying to maintain any highway speed (40, 55, 65, 70, etc) ill get a random hesitation, its nothing huge, but ill be pressing the pedal, yet the car will suddenly feel like ive lost all my acceleration, itll slow down for a second but then it feels like it catches again and its back to normal. itll do it no matter what gear im in, as long as im maintaining speed. it wont do it if im accelerating.
anyone heard of this or have any suggestions? i have the cars complete maintenance history and receipts, if that helps
thanks

Re: Hesitation while maintaining highway speeds
map sensor can do this...tps...loose wiring...could be just about anything. CEL is sure to come on eventually, could just be a waiting game.

Re: Hesitation while maintaining highway speeds
my car did that a couple years ago and it turned out to be the O2 sensor, but I would check for a code like everyone else is saying cause it could be a number of things.

Re: Hesitation while maintaining highway speeds
would a code show up even though theres no check engine light on? i just tuned it up and it didnt really solve much, runs a little smoother but i think im still getting shatty gas mileage and it still hesitates at cruise

Re: Hesitation while maintaining highway speeds
i just did plugs(the VX recomended ones), wires, cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter, switched to synthetic oil, 1/3 can of seafoam in oil, 1/2 in gastank, full can through vacuum system via brake booster line. it smoked like the devil for about 20 minutes and then cleared up.
apparently for stock vx's the o2 sensor sometimes "bogs down" but doesnt quite fail to where the CEL would come on, i have a voltmeter, but i dont know where on the ecu to hook it upto to measure the signal voltage, any ideas? its a p07 ecu

There are codes that will show up on the CEL (major codes) that have a major affect on how the engine is running. In order to check them.. well, I know I bridge a connector under the passenger side dash.
There are minor codes that won't show up by the CEL light but will show if you check for them.
