maybe a v8 swap for 85 stang?
hey guys, im lookin for sum advice on a swap. i picked up an 85 stang convertible for 1200. full custom interior and shit, fresh custom paint and everything, baby looks good. BUT not really enough get up and go for me. its a 3.8 v6. NOW...i was told to do a v8 swap you have to change wayyyyy to many things and it would be easier to just buy a 5.0 and build it up. So thats my first question, wat all do you need to do.
also, whats it cost for a good hatchback build. Im lookin at buyin a honda hatch in the next year or so but i wanna take time to chek things over. so whats a good engine set up.
thanks guys

a 5.0 swap on any LX is actually pretty easy, and you dont really need too much more than the motor. Some custom wiring for ignition and stuff, I dont think a stock V6 ignition system will work very good on a 5.0, I never tried the original stuff in my LX.
I can get into more details if you need.

i herd that you have to replace the front spindles, basicly the whole front end. the plan is, get a junkyard 5.0 soon, build it up in a years time (work on when i got the money) and get a 5spd or possibly 6spd tranny and drop in that aswell. its a auto right now and want to try a conversion.
yeah the 2.3turbo might be different but you just cant get that muscle sound with a little 4cyl.

I didnt have to replace anything at all like that, had to get the right pedestals for my short eared mounts, that was the only hard part.

ya get some pics, a 5.0 is a relatively easy swap and you can pick one up cheap nowadays. It'd be the best bang for your buck with an LX.
