those pics are heartbreaking man. that sucks

as for a swap your going to need different mounts misc wiring and ofcourse different transmission. try and get a complete swap. since the cars auto now id honestly leave it auto. a great source of a swap for you car is most any lincoln or thunderbird with a v8. the best you can hope for along that route is the lincoln mark 7's they had 5.0ho's just like the mustang did stock. but really any factory 302 will be a notable upgrade from what you have and wont break the bank if you get it all from a u-pull it place or some other sorta salvage place. + you can make the wiring work from most of those doner cars and use factory mustang 302 mounts.

You'll need new motor mounts, transmission, rear end, exhaust, springs, shocks.

It's a fairly easy swap if you have the parts.

Sorry to hear about the car though

ok guys, just thinking about this too, my friend has a wrecked 95 stang with a modded 3.8 pushin about 200-250 hp. think it would be cool to have a efi 3.8 in an 85 stang, something u dont see every day.

what would i need.

also it is built for a supercharger, ive been told all i need is a thunderbird supercoupe intake manifold and the supercharger will bolt up to it, true, not true, what.

it will be much faster and easier to run this 351 modified i have....to do the efi you would have to swap it all...engine/trans.cpu wiring harness.etc...then you have all the electronic shit to worry about going out on you...

OK I'm not sure if any of yall have done a V6 to 5.0 conversion on an automatic foxbody, but I have.

Springs, shocks, and read end are not necessary. V6 mounts are different from 302 mounts. If you buy a set of motor mounts nowadays, you wont get pedestals with them, so a junkyard will set you right.

Long eared mounts = bad for racing

Other than the custom wiring for my full ignition system, I tied it right into 1 single wire from stock ignition and I was good to go.

C series is a good automatic for V8. I picked up my C4 for around 200 in solid condition.

Stock V6 rear end is absolute shit, weak, LSD, and will break from V8 torque, plain and simple.
Stock springs and struts are also rated for different loads, so OEM 5.0 or aftermarket spring/struts are way better.

Just to put the bullshit aside. If you still have any questions, just PM me.

Edit: man screw the EFI V6, alot of work, custom mounts, not worth the effort. carbed 5.0 is the best bang for your buck. 351 is supposed to require custom mounts and special headers.

ok i was just wondering about the 3.8.

so basically, saying that i dont get the 351, would my best bet be the get a junkyard/wrecked 5.0 fox, instead of buying the block, tranny, and rearend.

either way you go you will have to get everything...motor/trans.modify somemounts, get exhaust done..larger radiator....also if your interested i have a 84 lincoln towncar witha 302...has only 69xxx miles...old man owned it...600 also..

and the only thing you would need from j/y is a rear end
