If you are scared of dealing with a rotary, then go with the ever popular LSX.

So i know what to get,

 

The LSX doesn't fit into the RX-8 very easily as compared to the bolt-in applications that are available for the FC's and FD's (or even for Miatas).
Really though if the OP can't do his own research on the appropriate websites he should stay far away from rotaries and probably Mazdas in general.

 

3 rotor isn't the best fit in the 8. Plus the wiring is annoying as hell and probably something you don't wanna take on mayne. And although your tranny will bolt up the 20b has too much torque and even if you take it easy you're still gonna shit it out. So add the cost of an FD tranny. Plus that's a whole bunch more Apex seals you'll have to worry about replacing.
Check Atkins or Pineapple Racing before you go gankin' your shit out.
