Miata - lining engine up -help needed
I am in the middle of dropping a 1.8 in my na6. right now, it has about 3/4"-1" gap between the block and the bell housing. I can't get it to slide together. obviously its not lined up straight, but after a few hours of changing the position of the straps on the engine and jacks under the tranny, I just cant get it to slide together. Anyone have any useful tricks?

I tried...
Really though, I wish I could help...have you tried miata.net? Some of the dudes over there should be able to answer that in a snap, and in good detail.

Re: Miata - lining engine up -help needed
its probably the input shaft on the tranny is not going into the flywheel like it should....are you sure you only have alignment pins on one component??(not on both the engine and tranny)
is the tranny still in the car and bolted to its mount???if so the mount could be bad and allowing the tranny to sit back further in the car....
but id lay money on the input shaft ...it may have a burr or something on the end and not allowing it to fully slide in

look around the bellhousing and run your fingers thru the gap if possible to assure nothing hitting....
are you able to get any of the bolts started???if so try tightening up in side to side pattern and see if it will pull it in...
DONT TIGHTEN TOO TIGHT...it will crack the bell housing....
