My uncle and I have been working on a 1978 mustang 2 hatchback. Hes done most of the body work. Its got 306 block with 289 heads i do believe the block came out of a 80 something bronco.

Question 1: What transmission should we put in a C4 or C6?

Question 2: its got an 8.8 rear should we put in 373 gears or 410 gears?

1. c4, and why would you build a non roller motor?
2. Depends on your setup, and what you plan on doing with it.
4-10's I been told you wrap up really high rpms on the highway. 3.73 have been proven to be a great all around gear though. I been staring at my 3.90 w/lsd diff for a couple weeks now for my 91 5.slow
Take into consideration the mustang 2 is a light ass car as well.

Yeah he swapped the V8 motor from the bronco into it like 15 years ago. It was a 6 cylinder. The interstate definately doesnt matter much we just drive it around town every once in awhile and were gonna start takin it to the track. He use to take it to the track but hasnt in like ten years. And yes this car is Very light. Super quick.

I actually planned on getting one of those 5.slows btw haha. im lookin for an 89-92 mustang. Ive driven a few and i think they are pretty fun. What complaints do you have with the mustang you have?

c-4

you dont need a c-6 with only a 306..c-4 will be plenty

as far as gears 4:10s are pretty popular for the guys with automatics and 3:73s with the t-5 transmissions
