wow, that easy!? thanks man! I did see those numbers before, but thought they had something to do with compression or something like that.

It's a 97 head. So a 99 gsr cap won't fit a 97??? Cause the bolts aren't lining up, only by a little bit tho...guess I'll try a cap for a 97.

Thanks again man...hopefully this is not something major.

that's the part # from a b16. (I had to replace the dizzy on my 00 si.) that would explain why your gsr cap won't fit.

Oh...well a friend of mine told me to check the ECU to see if its been converted to obd1. I plan on doing that in the morning. If it is, then that would also explain why the cap wouldn't fit, right??

And I am not sure if I have the "dizzy" setup either. How can you tell??

Yup thats a B16 dizzy, TD-64U si the ID number for the distributor and it uses TEC components, cap, coil, etc.

This is important as well as there are two models, Hitachi and TEC. TEC will be easily visible (raised molding) on the cap and coil.

its TD-68U, if that makes any difference. So if I have a 95 teg, b20b4 block and 97 gsr head with ls trans, and im pretty sure its obd1 converted, what cap do I need to get??

checking the ecu to see if its obd1 or obd2 in the morning...

TD-64U = not sure what model that came from but any from the below should work fine.

edit: correction TD-63 and TD-73U are for the 99-00 Civic Si.

Ok look on your distributor, if it has TEC on it you should be able to use the cap from the following.

Actually you should be able to use a cap from any of the following:

I noticed that all TEC distributor part numbers start with TD and Hitachi start with D only. So you have a TEC unit.

Alrighty...went to Bap Geon this morning and had the guy look up a cap for a 97 gsr, and the bolts line up perfectly. Stupid Advanced Auto apparently doesn't know what they are doing, or they got the wrong parts in the boxes. Anyways, wish me luck, hope this fixes my prob when I get everything back together...

How can I tell if I have the dizzy setup?? cause I dont think I do...

would the firing order be the same as non-dizzy? 1-4-3-2 clock-wise on the distributor...

There will be a indication mark on the distributor cap that denotes it as cylinder 1.
