I've got an open dump, and a couple things.
1. It shouldnt affect your AFR if you dont have any exhaust leaks. Reason being that it is lowering the volume of exhaust going out the ass end, but not the O2 ratio. Think of it like a glass of OJ. AFR measures the color, and an open dump is like pouring half the juice out. Still same color, unless you add water.
2. For noise, its the same when tooling around town without the open dump. Now you start running all the boost up, your gonna get noisy real fast. But i can get up to 15-18psi before i even start to hear mine.

thanks for all your help guys. the car goes into the shop tomorrow to get its new turbo, and i think ill just remove the cat and run a full straight pipe. and have it retuned.
