Re: Rb26dett swap
RB25 tranny $800-$1500
CLutch/ fly wheel $800
Motor mounting kit.- $1500...im guessing
Drive shaft-$300
AEM ECU-$1500
FMIC- $500
COOLING-$500
Fuel-$ 500
Im sure you can cheap out on a few things, but I think you are dreaming way too high for little gains. Then you have to add that nobody stays with stock twins. Single turbo $4000......its just pretty rediculous. Lets not add tunning, wiring, and Im sure you might need help from others. It adds up to a big cost that a 240 doesnt need. Its almost a 20+ year car and an RB is nothing to wow about. Just throw in a single cam engine in the shell and work on the suspension first. You will love to have a car that can handle than a shell with a wish list.
Motors that come to mind in that order:
KA24e
KA24de
SKIP THE KA-T
SR20det
1jz
LSX
Do it in that order..

Re: Rb26dett swap
Im being nice, compared to some of the responses you will probally get. You still didn't answer my questions. If you won't listen to me, I would advise you listen to re-spec, I hear he knows a thing or two about 240's, lol.

Re: Rb26dett swap
Yeah dude 3k aint shit. You are looking at at least 10k to get the motor in in tip top shape(just doing general maintenance....water pump, oil pump, gaskets). Of course this is assuming you dont do the fab work yourself. Even then its still up there.
Jesus christ you are lazy. Everything you are asking for is already out there. Why dont you just do some research? A general site for va car enthusiast is the last place i'd be looking. Try zilvia or nico or GOOGLE!

Re: Rb26dett swap
You asked and he gave you an answer, you really need to make sure the car itself is prepared for a power increase like that such as brakes, bushings, and other things on your 15 year old car that are wearing out.
A motor set from J.E.I is 3600, that comes with AWD trans which you cant use. You need an RB 25 trans, other than that you still need...
-Oil pan(RB26 pan wont work unless heavily modified)
-Wiring(more expensive as gauge cluster stuff has to be wired also)
-Drive shaft
-Motor mounts
-Turbo elbow and down pipe
-Intercooler
-Radiator and Fans
-Other odds and ends which really add up, we are just letting you know its really expensive and for the amount of work and money its not worth the 40 more horsepower than an RB25

Re: Rb26dett swap
I've done the swap.
To do it right costs 7k+ as was previously mentioned. You need the RB26, RB25 tranny, clutch, drive shaft, upgraded cooling, fuel pump, wiring, motor mounts, tranny mount, misc maintenance stuff for the engine like timing belts and water pump, fmic, bov, new turbos (stock ones will fail almost instantly), not to mention other random shit that fails like the ignitor clip, mafs, tps, and so on.
Honestly man, you seem like a stupid 16 year old kid who wants to be cool but knows dick about cars. Good luck though.

Re: Rb26dett swap
I don't even know why people answer questions like this.............
He obviously has not searched one bit.............either here or google. Period!! Why should he get spoon fed?? Yes, I know we all have to start somewhere, but the moment you give him good advise and he tells you to stuff it, everyone should have just left it at that.
Personally, I say have him buy the motorset, try to drop it in, realize its 5 times more expensive that originally "dreamed" and someone here should pick it up for nickles and dimes!!!
LOL.
(makes me wonder if I was like that when I was 12-16.....................)
