Jump on Honda-Tech and do some quick searching in the "Performance" FS section where the vendors are. You can find everything you need in like ten minutes.

That is one of the easiest things in the world to do too. I don't see where you are screwing up.

You got the wrong harness. You ordered a adapter to go from a OBD2a distributor to a OBD1 engine harness, and you should have ordered an adapter from a OBD1 distributor to an OBD2a engine harness obviously.

So you ordered the exact opposite of what you need, which is why the adapter connectors are identical to what you already have. If that doesn't make sense, draw a picture or make a list of the harness genders for the two adapter harness possibilities. Then it will become clear.
