just get a rebuild kit from honda, do minor rebuild. not an entire overhaul, unless you trying to build the motor for massive boost. the jrsc should be straight on a rebuilt d16. i had a turbo app on one before, and the jrsc. both with a rebuild with the honda kit.

dont worry the car you have didnt have any fi on it, it's always been stock.

honestly though, unless you find a hell of a deal on a new one, or a decent used one, id just invest your money towards a turbo. and just run a mild tune if you want some boost, but keepin' it dd. i had the jrsc on a del sol, and i got bored of it real quick. and opted for a snail.

and DAMN IT RE UPHOLSTERY ON CARS IS EXPENSIVE!!

I wouldn't rebuild it complete either. For that kind of money you could drop a b-series in it. Just do a head gasket, oil pan gasket, exhaust gasket, and intake gasket and call it a day. Its going to be around a grand to rebuilt to performance spec, or 400-500 on OEM spec, not including the 300 dollar performance clutch and flywheel. I say go turbo, in the long run when you got b-series you only need a new manifold.

if it has good compression and doesn't burn oil then why rebuild it? Obviously the motor is in good shape. Replace some seals and you will be fine.
