I got the control arm out; blowtorch/water to try to crack the seal failed. I'm concerned about damage to the control arm when hacksawing, but I'm pretty sure I just cracked it anyhow and will need it rewelded, so might as well go for broke.

Try using a heavy duty C-clamp and a socket deep enough and larger in diameter for the bushing to fall into. The stationary side of the clamp will rest on the top of the bushing and handle plus socket will be below in reference to your picture.

Torch rubber out, take air hammer and collapse outer sleeve in on itself and it falls out.

Don't try using a press, it will likely bend the shit out of it unless you have it supported correctly.

Basically beat the outer sleeve into a Pac Man shape, and it will fall out.

Got it! I cut out most of what what was left of the rubber with a sawzall, and went to town on the collar with my grandfather's homemade steel chisels- popped it out in no time. The ball joint press slipped the new bushing right in. Should just be a matter of reassembly tomorrow, and she'll be ready to hit the road again!

Thanks for all your help everyone Though I *am* disappointed nobody suggested using a sawzall, the obvious tool for such a delicate and precise job. The rubber stank enough just from the sawzall, I can only imagine how rank my garage would be after burning it out...
