you don't need those screws.
if they don't come out cleanly with the impact driver, drill the bastards out.

I don't plan on buying an impact driver. Should I? I'm going to man-handle the screws or use my drill.

You can rent impact screw drivers at advanced auto. A drill with a phillips head on it will most likely just strip it, those fuckers are on there tight. Also, when compressing the caliper piston in with the c-clamp, its best to place an old brake pad inbetween the piston and c-clamp so the force is distrubuted evenly, and so you dont damage the piston.

Great info, thanks. I'll ask Advanced about renting an impact screwdriver.

According to this: http://www.ehow.com/how_4508601_repl...da-accord.html
I have to bleed the brake fluid to about half. Is that necessary when changing the rotors?

not needed. retracting the caliper piston could, theoretically, cause the fluid level in the reservoir to rise. just keep an eye on it to avoid spillage.

maybe you shouldn't attempt this if you have no clue about this or find someone to watch what you do.... but remember, don't forget to pump the brakes at the end!
