Okay, just finished reassembling the distributor. Cleaned it with electric parts cleaner and put dialectric grease on the connections. Car still won't start.

Took the ECU apart, and goddamit, not one burn mark. No smell of burning electronics either.

So next is to test the resistance on the coil and dizzy. I'll report back once that's done.

Oh, and the ECU has a green sticker and the number 24, followed by the PO A11-B44 GO7, so its from a manual KA24DE and its good for this motor and car.

Now I'm only getting codes 21 and 34, Ignition and Detonation. No duh, the car won't ignite and it won't detonate hahaha

All the relays tested out a-ok.

Resistance between the ignition coil terminals is supposed to be 1ohm, my results varied between 1.4 ohms and 1.7 ohms.

Resistance between the ignition coil terminals and and the dizzy terminal is supposed to be 10 kilohms, my result was a solid 9.88.

What do you make of this?

You are on the right track. I you tried switching to another coil?

Thanks for the link, printing now... Replacement coil comes in tomorrow, I'll update then. How often do these things go out? I've never heard of a coil suddenly going bad

hey i just skimmed through but if you havent replaced your coil yet do it cuz it happend to my chevelle. if ur getting power to the coil but not out i would replace it

Coil will be in today and I'll throw that on and see what it does. An automotive electrician friend of mine was diagnosing it last night without me and he said that the wires going into the coil aren't doing what they're supposed to be doing, and he thinks that its the ECU. Another friend lent me 2 spares to try out, so I'll do that this afternoon as well

Apparently he says that one of the wires going to the coil is supposed to pulse when you crank the engine over and it's not doing so. It might be that the ECU is bad, or it might be that the ECU knows the coil is bad. Either way, they're both getting swapped today so I'll update as I go

The ECU will not send a pulse to the coil if it has no CAS signal. Your ECU is telling you it has no CAS signal with the code. It could be either the ECU or the Dizzy. I would bet money your wasting your timing with the coil. Unfortunately at this point there is no way to diagnose it without checking to see if there is a CAS signal coming out of the dizzy, or throwing parts at it, your choice.
