After you creep up to the prestage (1st) bulb, hit the brakes, push in the clutch & stop. Then let off the brakes, ease out the clutch, just enough to get the car nudging forward until you hit the staged (2nd) bulb. AS SOON AS you light the staged bulb, immediately yank up the hand brake, and hold your foot on the clutch in the same spot you had it at to nudge forward, and hold it there. Now your drivetrain is preloaded, by the clutch disc lightly slipping on the pressure plate, sending a load to the axles.

What I do, is hold the button on the hand brake down while I'm staging, it makes it easier to let the brake down when you take off. When you launch, let down the hand brake and let out the clutch at the same time. I don't dump my clutch, but I don't slip it either. It takes practice, but after a few passes, there's nothing to it.

Good driving makes a world of difference. Even in drag racing. And in most cases, the race is won or lost on the line.
