My girlfriend received a "fail" sticker on her sc400 today; the only reason given was "there are no bulbs in the fog lights".

They are factory, and when I removed the plastic lens there is no socket, no wiring... Nothing. Its just a plastic "lens".

I did a quick search on my blackberry and couldn't find anything about fog lights having to work. I was told by a friend that if there's no socket behind the lens for a bulb then there doesn't have to be one. But that doesn't sound right.

Can some body let me know the code number having to do with the fogs?

Thanks
~Josh
They are not normal fog lights that just turn on. but they are turn lights that only turn on when you turn the vehicle.

turn left and the left fog light should turn on, vice versa.

and yes im serious.

but quick fix would be just to take them off, two 10mm nuts each on the back.

That makes no sense cause if that's how they work then why would it fail ????

They shouldn't have failed her.

As long as the wiring is removed and no bulb is present. They are considered ornamental as if you did that same to reverse lamps.

Bingo. I pulled the bulbs out of my JDM Integra headlights and passed.

plus 1 with sorta
it goes for sidemarkers and shit like that to

ALL exterior lights must work but once you take the wiring and bulb(s) out it is legal for inspection, because once you do that its not considered as a light anymore

That's what thought too. As long as the wiring is removed and there is no bulb's present they, iirc would be considered a reflector and could not fail. You could call a state trooper and ask for a opion if the trooper say's it will pass then I belive the shop has to or deal with the state police.

Trooper Bailey is our Master trooper for my area. If you have any questions, call him.
