thinkin about getting a civic

Re: thinkin about getting a civic
iirc, the vtec d-series engines are the d16z6, d16y8, ZC SOHC vtec (kind of like a jdm d16z6 variant, but with a different cam), d15b (two and three stage vtec versions). i know there are other SOHC vtec variants from other markets (south-east asia & europe), but from what i have read/been told they use some version of the heads (or more specifically the cam profile) of the engines i have listed.
B18A and B18b1 are the non-vtec b-series engines.

Re: thinkin about getting a civic
ZC engines comes as either vtec (SOHC version only) or non-vtec (both DOHC or SOHC). all ZCs are d-series engines no matter if they are DOHC or SOHC.

Re: thinkin about getting a civic
you cant put any thing d series on a b series but d series is vtec in a 92 to 95 civic if you get a d16z6. But just today i ran a guy on the expressway that had a stock ls with exhast and intake and he barely pulled on me it was pretty much a even race and all i have done to my d16z6 is exhast and intake, and in the past my car beat a h22 prelude with exhast and intake but its up to you
wow don't even speak again. you CAN NOT put a D series head on a B series block...and also all B18C series motors are vtec, this includes the JDM, EDM, and USDM gsr's and type-r motors.
and was the guy with the LS even "racing" you or did you just beside him and gun it?
and do you know what VTEC actually is?
First off i said you CANT put anything d series on a b series i didnt say you could
Second the guy in the ls came next to me a hit it once the came back next to me and then we ran a couple of time
And 3rd yes in know what vtec is if that question was directed to me not sure why you would ask me that

Re: thinkin about getting a civic
eww to both of those. lol. id rather stick with a B16 or B18. the B20 seems like its slower compared to the other two. what about aftermarket support? does the B20 have any?

Re: thinkin about getting a civic
but if you resleeve it and throw a b16 head on there you have a b20 vtec which are pretty nasty
but with all honda motors the meaning behind the numbers is the liter size (for example b16's and d16's are 1.6 liter motors. b18's are 1.8 liters. and b20's and k20's are 2.0 liters)
another good thing about the b20's off the crv is that you can also pull the allwhell drive setup off the crv and convert your civic to all wheel drive. it just takes some more work and would mostly be done for a weekend warrior kinda deal.
but if you do decide to get a b20 DO NOT get one from an oldschool prelude. there is practicly NO aftermarket support and the only thing that the motor has in common with the rest of the b series motors is the b
the crv motor has a bigger aftermarket support and you can swap componets from the b18s or b16s

Re: thinkin about getting a civic
well if all your reading is the final numbers then yes. the b20 is slower then the b16 and b18c's. but up a hill or flogging it off a roll, the b20 will hold its own, tq does wonders.
