Before you do anything else, grab your voltmeter and check that you have 5V between the other two TPS connector pins. That's the sensor power and sensor ground connections to the ECU, and if those are not correct than you will never get where you need to be with the TPS calibration.

Normally it's not necessary, and you only need to check the output wire (I guess that's the red wire) in relation to the sensor ground wire (which is one of the other two wires, I don't specifically know which one). Since you can't get into the proper calibration range, it's possible that there is a problem somewhere and you're not getting proper sensor power from the ECU. That's the reason you need to check between the other two.

You are measuring the TPS voltage with respect to the sensor ground and not with respect to the chassis ground, correct?

udumbbro. If you notice i said "butterfly" not "butterflys" hence im talking about the throttle body butterfly. intake manifolds are irrelevant to your tps reading. and yes u can adjust where the "butterfly" on the throttle body sits at when fully closed. i will try to find a picture.

You have 3 wires power wires which is a constant 5 volts, signal which is the wire you are checking, and a ground wire. Follow Fabrik8 instructions first and see if thats your problem.
