Re: Type R Cams
i just got it tuned by ross at precision about 2 1/2 weeks ago!!!!!! i always used 93 octane gas and i really didnt get on it that much since i had it. im mainly looking to find out if i can use the head or not on my new build because i spent over $2000 on my block/bottom end. thats why i want to know if the cams are type r cams or not, because if they are not i would like to get some type r cams because im going to boost on the new motor..

Re: Type R Cams
The head should not be a problem take it to a machine shop and let them look it over the chip should be sanded smooth to decrease chance of hot spot. Like you should check your injector on the hole with the burnt piston because it isnt something that just happens. It is caused by detnation/ heat ie lean to much timing etc. Pistons will always burn it the thin/sharp portion.

Re: Type R Cams
the timing on his map is around 25 deg up top with a mid to high 12's air fuels at the tail pipe. I can not remember if he had a lower timing cover on the car, if he did then base timing would have been 15 deg. If not timing would most likley be lower as I would have retarded the distributer back. Previously to tuning the car it came in for a base line pulls and air fuels were in the 14's and I can not remeber what ecu was in it at the time.
