Re: VA State Inspection Question
I took a look at a few clutch pedal assemblies from the 96-2000 Civics. It looks different than I'm used to. I believe the switch you want to reconnect is the yellow one seen in the picture on the left pedal.

Re: VA State Inspection Question
driving into the bay is an insurance thing.
scraping off the sticker is a procedure thing for the inspection.
when you drive the car into a bay, you haven't started an inspection -- so no need to scrape off the sticker before you drive it into the shop, only when you begin an inspection.

The state inspector is supposed to drive it in, that way he can check other things pulling in.

After removing the inspection sticker, the safety inspector who is to perform the inspection must drive the vehicle into the inspection lane unless the safety inspector is not qualified to operate the vehicle.
During the operation of the vehicle, the safety inspector must make application of the service and parking brakes and check for conditions as set forth in Brake Sections of the inspection manual applicable to the vehicle being inspected.

looks like you are correct!

the inspection begins when pulling into the service lane to check for brakes.
however, inspectors have always asked me to pull my car in and scrape off (and apply) the sticker myself under their supervision for shop liability reasons with my little red car.

Re: VA State Inspection Question
Qualified is subjective. Techs don't feel "qualified" to drive my little red car, so they don't. I am also the one in the vehicle performing the instructed commands (lights on, etc) for them. There are only 3 people who have ever driven that car, ever.

Based on the codes that were just posted, I didn't see anything relevant to the CPPS. I pick up the car today so I will see if the connector was simply unplugged. Not a huge deal either way, but the principle of that not qualifying as one of the things to fail a vehicle.
