on vtecs the feeler gauge should be 6-7 thousants on intake and 7-8 thousants exhaust or vice versa i cnat remember but it is easy to adjust a pass through ratchet set is a beauitiful tool when doing this tedious job. and i didnt tighten to tq specs i just hand tightened them works good .

how's it run? I mean if your nervous about it I would redo it. Just to be on the safe side. Don't want to run the risk of breaking a cam lobe.

Try to locate where in the engine the ticking is coming from.
I'm not familiar with your specific engine & types of valves but what kind of head work was done? Did the deck height change at all? Did the spring/retainers/guides get changed? Did the heads get torqued down correctly. Does the ticking change when the car heats up?
Possibilities that I can think of:
-Excessive rockerarm sideplay - check all washers/springs/shims on the rockershafts.
-It's possible that the valve could be colliding with a piston (valve seat sinking into the head). You could check for marks on the piston.
-A pushrod hitting the pushrod tube
-rod bearings
-exhaust leak
-valve guide clearance
-snapped wrist pin clip
-Can try doing a compression check or leak down.
I wouldn't just let it go. If you've had recent head work and now things are ticking, something may not be right.
