have you checked your oil pressure?....id put a guage on it and see what its doing while your driving, if its not a bad part, a loose or bad connection, than that might be it and then its new oil pump time......

Oh shit, lol. This is the exact same problem I had when I swapped a b16 into my first crx, unfortunately the car was totalled before I ever figured it out.

try hooking up a vtec light. this will elimiate the fact of wiring or mechanical. if you don't want a light, hook up a test light temporarily. I would rather use a multimeter to see if 12V is reached consistantly, but either will work. To test the solenoid, put +12 V to the single wire on the vtec solenoid. You should hear the solenoid come on. Just some things you can test out. try this then come back.
