Re: vtec wont engage randomly
i hope this makes you wet your pants because its all better now
have u checked your ground wire witch is on the thermostat housing that grounds the vtec pressure switch also thats the same ground that goes to your injectors and dizzy and check all your wiring you mite have a open wire somewhere that touching and grounding off sometimes and have you also checked your oil pressure because that obviously controls vtec and pull your vtec solenoid off and check the screen for metal and clean it if their is alot of metal in there u mite wanna find out why.

Re: vtec wont engage randomly
To answer questions above, oil pressure is sat, screen is clean. Ill check grounds here quickly but cel reading will have to wait til tomorrow. And quick question on my part, can I jumper plug with car running or do I have to turn car off because cel goes away after I restart car. And I completely forgot about checking the dizzy. Will an obd 1 ls dizzy work as a replacement. I am cheap and have one on hand.

Re: vtec wont engage randomly
as long as you are obd1 and you have the right harness or can convert it or buy a converter harness for the dizzy
cel codes will still show up even if its cleared im pretty sure. and thats the easiest thing to do and you havent checked that?

Re: vtec wont engage randomly
It was a bitch with the cold but I checked all grounds as mentioned above, they all seem to be there. I know the wiring and swap was done right. Did several google searches and found several examples of the "jumper" be it yellow or white assuming this is where it should be(http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...gjumper2-1.jpg). Then that plug does not exist. I did however find a plug with two wires(green, black) coming off of the map sensor plug, but I doubt that is it. Thanks for all the help so far, I always use google first but I just can't seem to google my way out of this one.

Re: vtec wont engage randomly
The more that I think about it, cel only comes on when car is warmed up and only when I decelerate with foot off gas and car in gear. Would that most likely be a tuning issue given the fact that the engine was tuned on a car without a cat? Before I go complete retard on this, I did however found a 2 pin blue plug under the passenger side of the dash. Could that be it?

Re: vtec wont engage randomly
Due to some legality issues with my privilege to drive, I was just now able to wire up a toggle switch and get the cel to come on. I flipped the switch an got no flashing, is that a sign of code "0"? But other than that, nothing.
