Depends on your budget. K20 is great power but you can buy 2 type r swaps for what the k20 will cost you with the swap and buying everything to put it in.

dude just get an ls block and b16 head it and get the bottom bored or just get it sleeved just as long as the machine shop knows what theyre doing and then buy the golden eagle vtec kit... if you tune it properly it can run you up to 220hp if you do it right and reminder get Hondata not the VAFC shit theyre good but not that expandable

You already have the vtec head. If you want to stay N/A nothing beats displacement. Go for a b20 bottom end with high compression pistons and a nice cam setup. Nothing like a good DD b20/vtec with some decent power.
If turbo is in your future stay with what you got and upgrade the internals or go with a b18 bottom end.

Re: what is the best motor
I don't know what to say seeing as he first said he has a b16 block w/ a LS head, then said its a gsr head on a b16 block...but for under $1500 you can put together a LS or b20 vtec. With tuning and a nice header, intake, and exhaust 185whp shouldn't be hard to get.
Or you can go k20 they easily make 220-235whp with intake, header, exhaust and tuning. But like earlier said won't be cheap look to spend around $6k-7k.

yup i concur b20 is the shiznitz longer strokes more power but not sure about torque b20 bottom and b18 head is a step up but you can do the same work with a b18 and generate the same horsepower and even boosted you dont really have to get the b20 sleeve but it is an option that you have...if you know a really well machinist then go for it but dont freak out cause most of the time your temp is going to be near the half mark
