I agree. Let the teams pick themselves. If you try and make things even with the truely fast drivers then it just changes the dynamics of each team. Then no one will know how good a team truely is. This should all be for fun. Lets not take it too seriously.

OK. We have 2 schools of thought for tomorrow. One is to mix the top drivers amongst the teams who do not have 4 drivers. The other is to let the teams form on their own. Let's hear from the board on which one you prefer (for tomorrow only). While I came up with idea for the 1st one, I am not married to it. I am only interested in creating something that will increase interest and participation in the sport. I also like Dave's idea of creating an auto-x for the drag racers.

I will be talking with the club representatives to come up with a team challenge format that will work for everyone. This is what I have so far:
1. Teams must consist of 4 drivers. Substitutions will be allowed if neccessary.
2. Teams can be made up of one make (e.g. Team BMW), one model (e.g. Team Sentra), or whatever common thread you can think of (e.g. Team Cone or Team 757???).
3. We could have teams based on classes such as stock cars, teams for SP, STS, STX, and SM classes, and teams for prepared and modified classes.
4. A points system will be put into place. We can even follow the teams through the year and have a year-end winner.

These are not set in stone, these are just my ideas. I will present any other ideas you may have. Besides, do you really want this to be called Beno's Team Challenge?

Here is my thought on the teams. I think that at the driver meeting you should announce that you are doing a friendly team contest. Explain that it is a 4-car team, etc. And that the results will be posted on this forum. Then let the teams come to you. People on this forum would let you know in advance if possible. I do not think you should go around a recruit a team made up of all pro level drivers. Now if those drivers all get together and decide to form a team then that is fine. It is all for fun in the end. If someone comes and wants to be placed onto a team and does not have 4 people then help them out and put them on a team. Do it with diversity in mind to introduce us to new people and expand our groups not make us more clique’ish. That is my thoughts for better or worse. I think so far it has been done very well. Good job. Your ideas are great.

I think it should be 4 drives period. No class teams, there were only 3 people in STX, and 3 in SM last week.

"Let the teams get stacked!!! So when a few of us new guys who are hanging around 10th-20th every week get better we have something to brag about. A true acomplishment!!"
That you can quote me on
