Been to Victory a couple years and would always go elsewhere the next year..
Most suprisingly though, the fireworks show in Fincastle is excellent.. right on part with Vinton.. It may last a little less than Vinton's, but the Finale' (sp) is amazing..
Since its for your kids(good excuse), definitely go to Vinton.. They have a band, and kids will go dance on the hill in front of it, and they have other things like the inflatable gym stuff..

Roanoke Music for Americans (and others?) The Roanoke Symphony Orchestra plays patriotic and American tunes, with fireworks after the show.
8 p.m. for the music, 9:30 p.m. for the fireworks. Tuesday, July 4. Rivers Edge Sports Complex, Wiley Drive, Roanoke. Free.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned those fireworks in Blacksburg. They are pretty nice from what I remember. They are set off at the high school, but a lot of people stay and tailgate in VT parking lots.... guess they have to warm up for the upcoming football season!!!!
