Anybody know stuff about older celicas?
So I will be getting an 81 celica gt for free as soon as I can get it here. It's not much to look at and has high miles, but it has been very well maintained and runs really good. It will make a great beater/daily driver especially during the winter....I can store the mustang.
Anyway, I don't really know much about the car. Where can I find info about the engine etc? Any good celica messageboards out there?
I don't plan on modifying it any...unless I get bored...but would there be much out there for it anyway?

www.celicas.org should help some.
it has a 22r (2.4 liter ) engine, which is basically the same one that went into the pickups for years minus fuel injection. the old pickups were turbo, too, so these manifolds bolt right up. its rwd, but i think it might be a solid rear axle, cant remember. there was an article in an ooold ass sport compact car about a guy taking one and turbocharging it using the truck manifolds.
these are one of my favorite old cars. how did you find it for free?
edit: also check www.toysport.com

Thanks for the sites, I'll have to check those out.
Hmmm...turbo Doubt I would ever do anything that drastic to it...don't know if it would hold up. I think it has well over 200,000 miles.
I'm getting it from my girlfriends parents. They are the original owners. They just bought 2 new cars and the celica needed to go.

I dont know much about celicas, but the GT4 rocked. They are really rare tho. AWD Turbo. They are so cool. I wonder if u can use that 3SGTE (i think...same motor as 2nd gen MR2) in that celica.
