Thanks for the comments! I really need a tripod, I have a shaky hand as it is. I'm loving the Cannon, looked at a few compact digitals and the size was nice, but this was it for me.

definitely!that made the biggest single improvement to my photos.even a $30 tripod from Best Buy works great-it's what i have and i'm happy.i also have a short,3" tripod for "money shots" ..before the tripod,i could only get decent pics in auto mode,using flash in any lower light situations.with the tripods,i can finally use the manual modes,and get some nice pics without flash.
