We had COX for a while and decided to switch to Direct. They both have their goods and bads, personally I liked the COX channels,they were a hell of a lot easier to remember.

Cox vs satellite...
Cable typically gives better bang for buck bandwidth packages.
If you're going to be using any security wrapped traffic, such as an IPSEC vpn client... if you need to sign into your job's network or something from home, good luck with satellite.
I'd go cable if it's available.
