Cootees, how did you hear the story about this place? I have'nt heard it mentioned in years. I grew up within walking "err" bicycling distance from where it was supposed to be. Don't remember the stories behind it, but I do remember signs painted on the main road during halloween. I remember fishing there as a teenager. I never seen anything wierd happen.
You got my curiosity up, so I registered just to reply to this thread.
So anyone have anything they can contribute to this legend, such as when the story began, specific incidents, etc?

I may have been there before, at least to the one near SML. It's at the end of route 666 (gasp!) in Bedford/Franklin Co. (I forget - it's near the co. line off rt 122 - a couple miles from hales ford bridge)
Not really much going on there as far as we could tell...there was kinda a driveway at the end with a gate and gargoyles or something dumb like that...
I grew up maybe 10 min from it...

it's about a 1.25 hour drive from bburg/cburg, maybe 30 min from roanoke, let me know if you want directions, just be sure to bring lots of beer so the trip isn't a total waste...

yeah i'd like some directions, as long as they are accurate. yeah some beer, bud, and shrooms should make for an interesting time.

I know where route 666 is off 122. I went down there and saw that house with the two gargoyles... but I knew that wasn't it. There is a few side trails off of that road one leading through a field and another leading into some woods... both of which you would need a 4x4 to go thorugh so I have never made the journey.

I have heard about this story since I was a kid and as far as locations I have heard several thing... like rt 666 off 122, another was off hardy rd and another was right past montvale.

One of my brothers friends who lives out on the lake says he knows exactly where it is.. so I am going to see about talking to him about it.
