Places for sledding?
My mother wants to go sledding this week. Her bday is coming up and apparently the only thing she wants is for my dad to take her somewhere to play in the snow. I'm from Newport News and the only time I head out that way is to go to the resorts to board, so I'm not sure where to tell her to go. Any help from someone that lives around there would be appreciated. I know most of western VA got 6-8 inches yesterday and they are supposed to get more Thursday and Friday.

I can't speak for other areas, but I know all of the snow in Roanoke is gone. There's a little (and I mean a LITTLE) left on the top of the mountain but that's now sledding/tubing snow, by any means. Definitely go to a resort. The pathetic snow we've gotten the last few years melts so quickly!

Re: Places for sledding?
I'm not expecting anything from the last couple of days to still be around, but from the weather forecast I've seen it's supposed to snow up that way again Thursday and Friday. I already told her about Mass and Wintergreen and tubing, but neither place is open yet, so that doesn't really help. And Snowshoe is too far just to play in the snow for a few hours.
