is Roanoke a good place to live?

Re: is Roanoke a good place to live?
Its a great place to live if you wanna get harrassed by the cops (not all of them... there are a select few cool ones) ... jobs are hard to find but thats pretty much anywhere right now. Racial balance is ok... you occassionally run across a few closed minded rednecks, but most people get along ok... unless you start arguing about racing or who has the faster car. There really isn't much to do around here, and when you do find something to do, 9 times out of 10, its illegal. Its a great place to live if you are old and want to retire and you have absolutely no mods done to your car. Anything modded here will guarantee you lots of tickets.

Re: is Roanoke a good place to live?
I grew up in Roanoke and moved to Richmond when I was 18 to attend college. I am 21 now and about to graduate. I love Roanoke and if I didn't already have a job lined up here for when I graduate I would definitely be moving back. Roanoke has very little going on regarding the car scene compared to Richmond. If I was looking to raise a family, Roanoke would be the place.

I lived in Aurora for a couple of years, I have to say that it's better than Roanoke. Well, maybe not Aurora specifically, but the Denver area as a whole. Way more stuff to do in Denver, there's not much here in Roanoke. Not much racial tension here that I've noticed, at least nothing like when I lived in Philly. Can't speak for the job market since my office is in Philly and my job is not dependent on the Roanoke area or economy.
