I don't think they can give you a ticket for taking off too fast. They tried to pin me with that oncee and the Lawyer I went to court with said it was basically a matter of opinion on how fast is too fast. There was no radar so the judge couldn't let it stick. Yeah for me.

The offense of "exhibition of speed" is usually defined as driving "any vehicle in any race, speed competition or contest, drag race or acceleration contest, test of physical endurance, exhibition of speed or acceleration, or for the purpose of making a speed record." See Uniform Vehicle Code §11-809(a).
§ 46.2-861. Driving too fast for highway and traffic conditions.
A person shall be guilty of reckless driving who exceeds a reasonable speed under the circumstances and traffic conditions existing at the time, regardless of any posted speed limit.
Once again this is up to officer discretion. If you are accelerating at a rapid rate (other than normal acceleration) then you are subject to this law. Doesnt take a "calibrated eye" to determine this.
