turbo balancing
Does anyone know a local shop that can balance my turbo. I have tried valley fuel injection, some various diesel shops, and I left a message at import auto but no one seems to know a local place that can do this kind of work. Any help would be appreciated, but I'm just trying to find somewhere local to keep my downtime to a minimum.

Re: turbo balancing
good luck.i've tried several times to find a place with no luck.did you just rebuild?are the components independently balanced(shaft is balanced by itself, and compressor wheel is balanced by itself)?if so,the two don't have to be in any certain orientation, and you can get by without rebalancing.you can usually tell this by the compressor wheel having material taken off the back side,as well as material being taken off the hex nut portion or backside of the turbine wheel.basically, there will be balancing marks on both pieces.

Re: turbo balancing
My compressor wheel had a chip in it on my old small 16g, and I knew that the TDO5 14b compressor housing would work with the small 16g 7cm^2 turbine housing for a little more go so I wanted them put together and balanced. I took it to valley fuel injection and they told me they had never had one balanced before, but that they could send it off to get done so I turned it over to them. I wanted to get it balanced so I wouldn't have to worry about thrust bearing failure in the future but I'll let you guys know how it works out and the turnaround time on it
