H22's do not have the problem, H23 only. Keep in mind the H23 was a US only engine, they never used it in Japan.

There was an h23 in Japan, in the Prelude S(they used f22b VTEC's in the SI models), 93-95.. There were also H23's in parts of Europe in Preludes and Accords.

Well...
I adjust valve clearances, and the #1 intake valves were WAAAAY outta spec.. as in probably 1/16" or more valve lash.. yea that could have been why...
problem fixed!
