Default Turbo MR2 blues....

Last Thursday the wife and I loaded up the MKII MR2 turbo and went to Pa to stay with the in-laws and go attend an MR2 cruise / meet from York to Harrisburg. We put in 700 miles on the turbo last weekend. The car ran excellent no problems On the way home...the last half mile....my house is literally in sight I am doing no more then 25 MPH following and camper and I look at me gauges and my temp is rising. I look in my rear view and steam is poring out of my hood. So boost around the camper (still has good power) laying down a huge smoke screen and I make it up my driveway and get it in the yard. I open the hood and hear things boiling and steam is pouring out of the engine. It looked like it was on fire.

So I let it cool down completely and go out and she starts up fine. I drive it up into the garage quick and it ran ok getting up there. Ok I figure it must be a coolant line burst.

So apparently some little smart ass designer for the 3sgte decided it would be fun to put a little rubber hose under EVERYTHING on the exhaust side of the motor.I have stripped everything off that side and I can still barely get to this hose. Which I found out it has its own nick name. The HOSE FROM HELL. Well I think that name is just too nice for this PITA little bastard of a hose. Whoever put that thing there needs to be water boarded, drawn and quartered!! BAH!!!!

Yep. Anytime you are working around that hose, you may as well go ahead and replace it.

Fuck that thing. Good luck

After 4 days of trying I finally got the one hose off the bottom of the water pump outlet. What a pain in the ass.

I am kind of looking at this thing and trying to decide how far I want to go. The hard lines that run under the exhaust manifold are showing significant rust. I am not sure even if the rubber bypass hoses blew or if that metal lines rusted through. I saw some other things that could be fixed but damn I just done have time for this. Plus I am more an MK1 MR2 guy and I dont really know what I am doing under that car LOL
